Phantom Voice is transcribing too slowly — what can I do?
It ships with Large v3 Turbo — the most accurate model, and fast on Apple silicon. On older or Intel Macs it can lag. Open Preferences → Model and switch to Small or Medium for noticeably faster transcription, with only a small accuracy trade-off.
Does my voice or my data ever leave my Mac?
No. Phantom Voice runs the speech model entirely on-device — your audio is never uploaded, and it works with Wi-Fi switched off. The whole Phantom line is offline-first; nothing phones home.
Will all these apps slow down my Mac or drain my battery?
No — they're built to disappear. Every tool is a native Swift/AppKit menu-bar app (no Electron, no bundled browser), so each sips a few MB of RAM and sits at near-zero CPU when idle: timers spin down when nothing's happening, overlays stop drawing when hidden, and polling pauses while your Mac sleeps. The one heavier app is Phantom Voice, which loads its speech model into memory while you dictate — that's the cost of doing transcription privately on your own machine instead of in the cloud — and it lets go when idle.
Phantom Voice isn't typing my words — what's wrong?
It needs three macOS permissions to hear your hotkey and type into other apps. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and grant Phantom Voice Microphone, Accessibility, and Input Monitoring, then relaunch the app.
Do I need an account? What does one purchase unlock?
Phantom Time is free, no account needed. Everything else unlocks with a single Phantom ID — one membership (or lifetime) covers Phantom Voice and all six suite tools. There's a 14-day free trial, no card required to start.
How do I hide icons with Phantom Bar?
Phantom Bar adds a thin | divider to your menu bar. Hold ⌘ and drag the icons you want to hide to the left of it, then click the Phantom Bar icon to tuck them away — click again to bring them back.
Which Macs are supported?
macOS 13 (Ventura) and later, on both Apple silicon and Intel. Phantom Voice runs best on Apple silicon, where it uses the Neural Engine and GPU for fast, on-device transcription.
